Oral and Intramuscular vaccination has been considered till date as the ultimate ways, but nasal route offers advantages such as ease of self administration and induction of mucosal as well as systemic immunity.

Bharat Biotech's intra-nasal Covid vaccine Incovacc has received government approval for use as a booster dose in the country-wide mass inouclation program.

It can be administered to those above 18 years, and will be first made available in private hospitals. It will be available on CoWIN app from Friday itself.

Few weeks back, it had got approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation for restricted use in emergency situations in the age group of 18 and above. The government in a release on December 1 had called it "World’s first intra-nasal vaccine for Covid.
